Mantra Yoga Retreat

March 6th to 14th

El Silencio” Sadhana Kutir, San Carlos-Uruguay

Regular repetition of a mantra as a meditation technique is called Japa. This meditation technique is considered one of the most effective and powerful methods for developing deep concentration and awakening the divine potentials of the mind.

The Mantra contains a “Shakti” or dormant power that is activated only after much repetition over a period of time. Many people practice Japa for a short period each day, but generally, this is not enough to awaken the Shakti of the mantra, unless done very regularly over an extended period.

This leads to many people who start meditating with a mantra to get discouraged and abandon the practice when they don't see immediate results.

However, if we do a retreat, where we temporarily set aside all daily concerns and can immerse our minds fully in the mantra for an extended period, the Shakti of the mantra will be more easily awakened, producing a rapid expansion of the mind, revelation of knowledge in an intuitive form, activation of the mind’s dormant potential, and finally, the “Darshan” or direct vision - communion with the Deity of the Mantra.

When done with full concentration and bhava (feeling), Japa is a truly powerful technique worth experiencing.  For this reason, we are offering this retreat to deepen the practice of this highly efficient and yet simple technique, suitable for all levels of aspirants, regardless of their previous experience.

.

In the practice of Japa, several yogas are included:

Bhakti Yoga, or the yoga of devotion and divine love. Japa is a way to constantly remember and pray to God, invoking Him by His names.

Raja Yoga, the yoga of concentration, meditation, and control of the mind. Japa is a powerful tool for developing the capacity for deep, continuous mental concentration.

Nada Yoga, the yoga of sound and its effects on the mind. Mantras produce specific vibrations in our physical body as well as in the subtle or astral body, activating the various nadis and chakras of our psychic system, which leads to the activation of dormant areas of the mind.

Everyone can benefit from the practice of Japa.

It is said that Saint Valmiki was a criminal and completely ignorant until he was initiated into the mantra of Sri Rama. Through this practice alone, he achieved holiness and self-realization, and thus wrote the famous epic Ramayana, one of the most well-known and popular scriptures in India.
